Toby is Happy in Iowa!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Toby, who flew off to his new home, has settled in and is being a good boy and making his new owner laugh at his antics, and rush home to her new companion after running errands. Soon, she will begin her new job, but it has been nice that she has been able to have these weeks to bond with him (and he adores her, too!)

He’s been a good boy, not spraying in his new home (being an only cat is what he is happiest with, it appears right now) but he has gotten into a bit of mischief…knocking over a vase of flowers, getting into some fly paper and making a sticky mess and demanding to drink out of the toliet…but Bobbi is adapting and learning what it’s like to share her home with an “interactive” Cornish Rex cat!

Here’s some photos she has shared with me, of Toby and she getting settled in their new home:

Toby Update–He flew off to Iowa!

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

100_4751On Friday, July 24th, 2009, Toby flew off to his new home and I hope it’s the beginning of his happy new life being king of his new home and getting lots of love and attention from his new owner, Bobbi.

Bobbi drove 4 hours each way from Iowa to Minneapolis just to pick up Toby at the airport, so he wouldn’t have to change planes and go through any extra stress. That meant a lot to me. He arrived safe and sound and was “chatting” with the people in the office when Bobbie got there to get him.

Here’s her email to me after his first day with her, and things sound really good and that makes me very hopeful he will settle in and be a good boy in his new home with her!

…Toby is doing *very* well. We already seem to have bonded. If I leave his room he cries and cries, but not when my mom does.

And he loves on me a lot!  He hasn’t sprayed at all (so far as I can tell). I thought he did once, but when I checked the spot, it wasn’t wet and I couldn’t smell anything.

His biting is something I need to work on though. He made sure I woke up this morning! I forgot to put the bitter apple spray on -oops! And when he’s cuddling, he’ll start to bite a little.

He cried when he first got in his room, even though I was there, but after 1/2 an hour or so, he settled down. He ate some food (I gave him some wet as a welcome home treat) and he gobbled it up pretty quickly.

Anyway, he seems pretty comfortable. He’s not doing the nervous grooming thing, though he does lay down by me and wash. He’s finally played for a little while with a feather toy I bought him.

He is also fascinated by the ceiling fan. I feel badly that he can’t look out the window very easily because it’s fairly high. I couldn’t afford a cat tree yet, so I’m going to try to figure something out.

His blankets are in the room, but he seems uninterested in them, and just wants to burrow into the bed (even though his blanket is also on the bed. I’ve shut the closet door so he can’t get in, which has made him want to get in all the more!

When I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he started to escape, so I just carried him with me. He seemed a bit unnerved by the bathroom and was happy to go back to his room. Today, however, he has escaped twice (only briefly) and done a full circuit of the downstairs (my room is sort of on the end).

The first time, he ran through the living room, dining room, kitchen, with me in pursuit, and happily ran back into his room. The second time, he went the opposite direction (kitchen, dining room, living room) and didn’t seem so eager to return. I had to get him from under the sofa! lol. Still, no sign of spraying!

Grown Up Cats Update, Furrydance Silly!

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Furrydance Esyld, the cute brown tabby and white young girlcat, has found a wonderful home with a woman who lives close by, so I can even visit her from time to time.

Her name is now Silly and she rules the roost, being an only cat. Silly is her first Cornish Rex and she loves her interactive personality and “silly” antics! Silly is now a Scion mascot, as her new owner has a Scion xB show car and plans on showing off Silly, too. She wants a kitty that would love meeting new people and traveling around with her.

Here’s a few photos of her in her new home.

Snow Day…

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

These photos are of Furrydance Duncan of Cavaliercats, who is owned by a great couple in Maryland. We had quite a snowfall recently, and they let Duncan experience that!

While I was a bit anxious when I saw he didn’t have his harness and leash on, he was surrounded by humans ready to grab him if he took off and they were able to snap a few pix before bundling him up and taking him back to his heated bed!

Cornish Rex in watercolor

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

This is the first time a Furrydance cat has had a portrait painted and we’re all so excited and honored! The cat in the watercolor painting is Furrydance Duncan of Cavaliercats, a handsome red tabby neutered boy that belongs to Cathy Hurley & Mike Zimmer of Laurel, Maryland.

Duncan has his own Catster page http://www.catster.com/cats/804159, and he is a Grand Premier showcat, too. The artist who painted this picture works with Cathy, so if any of you out there would like to commission a portrait, you will know who does a Cornish Rex justice!
