On Friday, July 24th, 2009, Toby flew off to his new home and I hope it’s the beginning of his happy new life being king of his new home and getting lots of love and attention from his new owner, Bobbi.
Bobbi drove 4 hours each way from Iowa to Minneapolis just to pick up Toby at the airport, so he wouldn’t have to change planes and go through any extra stress. That meant a lot to me. He arrived safe and sound and was “chatting” with the people in the office when Bobbie got there to get him.

Here’s her email to me after his first day with her, and things sound really good and that makes me very hopeful he will settle in and be a good boy in his new home with her!
…Toby is doing *very* well. We already seem to have bonded. If I leave his room he cries and cries, but not when my mom does.
And he loves on me a lot! He hasn’t sprayed at all (so far as I can tell). I thought he did once, but when I checked the spot, it wasn’t wet and I couldn’t smell anything.
His biting is something I need to work on though. He made sure I woke up this morning! I forgot to put the bitter apple spray on -oops! And when he’s cuddling, he’ll start to bite a little.
He cried when he first got in his room, even though I was there, but after 1/2 an hour or so, he settled down. He ate some food (I gave him some wet as a welcome home treat) and he gobbled it up pretty quickly.
Anyway, he seems pretty comfortable. He’s not doing the nervous grooming thing, though he does lay down by me and wash. He’s finally played for a little while with a feather toy I bought him.
He is also fascinated by the ceiling fan. I feel badly that he can’t look out the window very easily because it’s fairly high. I couldn’t afford a cat tree yet, so I’m going to try to figure something out.
His blankets are in the room, but he seems uninterested in them, and just wants to burrow into the bed (even though his blanket is also on the bed. I’ve shut the closet door so he can’t get in, which has made him want to get in all the more!
When I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he started to escape, so I just carried him with me. He seemed a bit unnerved by the bathroom and was happy to go back to his room. Today, however, he has escaped twice (only briefly) and done a full circuit of the downstairs (my room is sort of on the end).
The first time, he ran through the living room, dining room, kitchen, with me in pursuit, and happily ran back into his room. The second time, he went the opposite direction (kitchen, dining room, living room) and didn’t seem so eager to return. I had to get him from under the sofa! lol. Still, no sign of spraying!
